Supporting Professor Caroline Daniels, Entrepreneurship & Fashion
The Student Assistant will play an integral role in supporting Professor Caroline Daniels in teaching, research, and program development within Babson College’s Fashion and Entrepreneurship curriculum. This position offers a unique opportunity for a student interested in entrepreneurship, fashion innovation, sustainability, business models, and experiential learning. The assistant will support the Professor in two cornerstone courses—Entrepreneurship in Fashion (EPS 3513) and the Fashion Entrepreneurship Action Lab (EPS 3547)—both of which emphasize Entrepreneurial Thought & Action®, industry analysis, fashion business model innovation, and sustainability practices.
The Student Assistant will support the development of course materials by assisting Prof. Daniels research in emerging trends in fashion, beauty, sustainability, and global supply chains. They will help identify contemporary cases, Business of Fashion (BoF) articles, company examples, and thought‑provoking multimedia to incorporate into the curriculum.
The role also includes hands‑on support for Fashion Entrepreneurship events, guest speaker sessions, workshops, and course‑related experiential activities. The student will work collaboratively with Professor Daniels to coordinate logistics, communicate with industry partners, and enhance the student learning experience. This position is ideal for a highly motivated, organized, and creative student with a passion for the fashion industry and a curiosity about its evolving entrepreneurial landscape.
Key Responsibilities & Activities
Course Material Development
Assist in research of current trends, data, and developments in:
Fashion & beauty industry business models
Sustainable and circular fashion practices
Textiles, manufacturing, and supply chain innovation
Marketing, retail, e‑commerce, and digital transformation
Identify relevant readings, multimedia, BoF professional articles, and case studies.
Assist in curating examples for weekly modules aligned with topics such as:
Design, merchandising, sourcing, marketing, influencer business models, product development, sustainability, retail, distribution, and future of fashion.
Event Planning & Guest Speakers
Help coordinate fashion‑related events, workshops, and speaker sessions for both courses.
Communicate with guest speakers regarding schedules, materials, and event needs.
Assist with logistics such as room setup, technology support, and promotional materials.
Capture event notes or photos (when appropriate) for course use or archives.
Student & Course Engagement Support
Assist students by directing them to resources (BoF membership, readings, sustainability materials).
Administrative & Organizational Support
Track updates from BoF, Vogue Business, McKinsey’s State of Fashion, and other industry sources.
Assist with scheduling related to course activities or speaker sessions.
Ideal Qualifications
Strong interest in fashion, entrepreneurship, sustainability, or business innovation.
Excellent research, writing, and analytical skills.
Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail.
Comfort with digital tools (Canvas, Microsoft Office, databases, online research platforms).
Ability to work independently, creatively, and proactively.
