THE OPPORTUNITY
The FME Lead Mentors have the same responsibilities as FME Mentors: collaborate with the FME faculty throughout the first and second semesters to facilitate the FME experience for students in their sections. They serve as the liaison for FME ventures between Undergraduate Experiential Learning and the FME processes. Mentors serve as a student resource from the start of venture ideation up until the close of business.
FME Lead Mentors also have additional responsibilities of increased communication with Experiential Learning & Academic Excellence, provide support and guidance for a subgroup of FME Mentors, and assist with FME Mentor training and meetings.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Remain in good standing with the College through the selection, training, and contract periods
- Exemplify professionalism in the classroom and role model student behavior in both conduct and communication
- Have timely communication with Undergraduate Experiential Learning and FME Faculty
- Coach ventures including efforts to get uninvolved students more engaged and offer guidance for conflict resolution
- Promote Peer Tutoring group study time with students prior to exams
- Assist ventures with various business presentation preparations
- Meet with FME faculty on a weekly/biweekly basis and attend all FME Mentor team meetings
- Meet with FME Mentor small teams monthly
- Guide other FME Mentors through navigating course tools
- Mentor and support a small FME Mentor cohort
- Collaborate with Auditing & Accounting Mentors as needed to ensure students are comfortable with their deliverables
- Keep professional intrapersonal relationships and not be romantically involved with any students in assigned section
- Maintain confidentiality with any information presented
- Assume additional responsibilities as required
YOUR TEAM WILL INCLUDE
For training, support, and guidance with completing the position responsibilities, FME Lead Mentors report to Undergraduate Experiential Learning & Academic Excellence. Lead Mentors also establish collaborative relationships with the FME Faculty in their assigned section and their small groups.
WHAT EDUCATION AND SKILLS YOU WILL NEED
- Must have cumulative GPA of 2.8 or higher at time of applying and throughout employment
- Successful completion of FME course and experience as an FME Mentor
- Familiarity with FME course tools including but not limited to: Canvas, Qualtrics, Undergraduate Experiential Learning resources and processes
- Must be in good standing with the faculty you were a FME Mentor for
- Ability to provide appropriate guidance to their peers through active listening and open-ended questioning
- Ability to direct students to different campus services as needed (Math, Writing and Speech Resource Centers, Peer Tutoring, Health Services, CAPS, etc.)
- Ability to create an environment where direct reports have the freedom and security to take initiative; deal with complexities with resilience, resourcefulness, and optimism; and appreciate open mindedness, creativity, and agility in thought and tactics.

- Must have strong computer skills including proficiency in Google Drive/Docs and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook/Calendar).
HOW AND WHERE YOU WILL WORK
The FME Lead Mentor role is an in-person position, with mentors expected to attend FME Class sessions, monthly meetings with the Undergraduate Experiential Learning team, and additional classroom support throughout the first and second semesters to all students in their section.
This is an hourly, paid position for the academic year (Fall and Spring semesters). On average, FME Mentors will work 6-12 hours per week, which includes attending FME class twice per week.
