Compensation Range:

$23.06 - $32.29

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.

Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will assist with daily lab operations, support multiple research projects and maintain the animal colony. The candidate will be responsible for performing lab duties under general supervision and will assist graduate students and postdocs with advanced procedures. With successful completion of above lab managerial responsibilities, candidate has the opportunity to develop their independent research project under direct mentorship.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Manages the smooth operation of day-to-day laboratory activities, including but not limited to laboratory supply ordering and inventory, overseeing mouse colony, ensuring compliance with regulatory policies.
  • Contributes to the design and conducts experimental research and investigations to explore and support lab goals, grant commitments, scientific discovery, and/or development.
  • Records, interprets, and conducts analyses and scientific data utilizing standard methods and develops modifications of standard methods to meet special situations.
  • Develops research documentation, such as protocols, reports, reviews, publications, manuscripts, and/or summaries.
  • Teaches laboratory techniques and instrumentation procedures to students and laboratory technical support staff and counsels them on technical problems.
  • Remains knowledgeable of relevant scientific and technical developments. Attends/participates in weekly lab meetings, and as appropriate, institutes, and seminars.
  • Other job duties as assigned.


MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 1 year of related work experience involving direct assistance to researchers required
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Familiarity with MS Office programs (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel) required
  • Ability to generate and organize large sets of data and strains, and familiarity with all aspects of a laboratory to effectively help organize the lab required
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair equipment as needed
  • Excellent organization skills to help coordinate a number of projects, and the skills to help train inexperienced personnel
