JOB SUMMARY:

Under direct supervision, this position provides support for assigned program.  Duties include: supervising students while they use IRSC’s facilities. This role ensures the safety and proper guidance and technique on the use of equipment. Maintains a clean and organized environment and deliver  exceptional customer service.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Monitor students using the equipment in the room to ensure safe and proper usage
  • Offer assistance and instruction on exercise techniques and equipment usage.
  • Enforce the facility rules and regulations to prevent accidents and injuries.
  • Keep the facility clean and organized, including sanitizing equipment and ensuring all machines are in working order.
  • Report any issues or equipment malfunctions to Management.
  • Address student inquiries and concerns in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Assist in maintaining inventory of facility equipment and supplies.
  • Complete all other duties and responsibilities as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; some college coursework in physical education or related field preferred
  • Associate of Science in Office Systems Technology or a related field preferred;
  • Two (2) years of related experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
  • Works a flexible schedule as needed.
  • Previous experience in a gym or fitness environment is a plus.
  • Knowledge of exercise techniques and gym equipment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to enforce rules and maintain a safe environment.
  • CPR and First Aid certification preferred.
  • Skill in organizing and prioritizing.
  • Skill in providing customer service.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

This position classifies the physical exertion requirements as light work involving lifting no more than 20 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 pounds. Even though the weight lifted may be very little, a job is in this category when it requires a good deal of walking or standing, or when it involves sitting most of the time with some pushing and pulling of arm or leg controls. To be considered capable of performing a full or wide range of light work, you must have the ability to do substantially all of these activities. If someone can do light work, we determine that he or she can also do sedentary work, unless there are additional limiting factors such as loss of fine dexterity or inability to sit for long periods of time.
