JOB SUMMARY:

Under direct supervision, this position provides clerical support services for the Finance Division.  Duties include supporting Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Cashier's Office, and General Accounting functions for the College.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Reviews bank accounts; checks balances against ledger amounts; verifies that amounts agree with financial statement items; researches unmatched items; reconciles bank statements; and completes reconciliation of fee receipts.
  • Files various state and/ or federal reports.
  • Prepares monthly internal reports and analyses.
  • Completes data entry.
  • Completes all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Associate degree; two (2) years of related work experience in accounting, or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
  • Knowledge of bookkeeping, data entry, and reconciliation of financial records.
  • Skill in organizing.
  • Skill in working with Microsoft Office and Windows based applications.
  • Ability to be accurate, be detailed oriented, and follow instructions.
  • Ability to complete appropriate financial paperwork and work with financial data.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

This position classifies the physical exertion requirements as sedentary work involving lifting no more than 10 pounds at a time and occasionally lifting or carrying articles like docket files, ledgers, and small tools. Although a sedentary job is defined as one which involves sitting, a certain amount of walking and standing is often necessary in carrying out job duties. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required occasionally, and other sedentary criteria are met.
