Overview

The Sergeant shall assist the shift Lieutenant and Master Sergeants in all phases of overseeing the shift on daily basis. In the absence of the Shift Lieutenant and Master Sergeants the duty Sergeant is responsible for the proper direction and working of shift personnel and following the Chain-of-Command.

 

Other assigned duties may include: preparing weekly schedules for the shift, ensuring that all shift logs are completed and properly maintained, ensuring that weapons and equipment are properly issued and accounted for during and after the shift.

 

The duty Sergeant shall oversee investigations and incidents to insure that they are properly documented, correct, complete and ensure a written report is submitted in a timely manner.

 

The Sergeant will be responsible for the completion of all assigned administrative tasks as directed by management and shall keep management appraised of any shipyard activity that may affect security operations.

 

This position requires: good working knowledge of the Electric Boat shipyard and satellite facilities, Security Department Operating Procedures, good decision making skills, a working knowledge of NAVSEA Standard Item 009-72, a working knowledge of Electric Boats Physical Shipyard Security Plan, computer familiarity, clear and effective verbal and writing skills, ability to legally and physically operate company vehicles, legally carry and use Company issued equipment as required for the performance of assigned duties. Ability to work within team or with little to no supervision as necessary.

Qualifications

Required:

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Must have successfully completed the six-month probationary period as a D660 Plant Protection Officer (SARF) prior to submitting an application.
  • Must be S.A.R.F. certified at the time of application.
  • Must possess and maintain a secret or above DOD security clearance.
  • Must Possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license
  • Must Possess and maintain a valid CT pistol permit and blue card.

Preferred:

  • Prior supervisory / shift lead work experience in a Security, Police or Military related field.
  • Two or more years of experience as an Electric Boat Plant Protection Officer.
