The Senior IT Quality Engineer is responsible for the end-to-end quality of complex business applications, ensuring they meet rigorous functional and performance standards. This role involves a balanced combination of manual exploratory testing and the development of robust automation suites using Playwright. The Senior Engineer works closely with developers and product teams to identify risks early, design comprehensive test plans, and manage defects through the full SDLC using Jira and X-ray. In addition to hands-on testing, this role provides technical guidance to junior team members and contributes to the continuous improvement of the testing framework and documentation in Confluence.

Essential Duties

Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts using Playwright for regression and feature-specific testing.
Execute complex manual exploratory and functional testing for new features and high-risk application areas.
Manage test cases, test sets, and execution results within X-ray and Jira, ensuring full requirements traceability.
Analyze business requirements and technical specifications to create detailed test plans and test data strategies.
Perform defect logging, tracking, and verification; participate in defect triage meetings to prioritize fixes.
Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and monitor execution results for immediate feedback to developers.
Mentor junior QA engineers by reviewing their test cases and providing feedback on automation code quality.
Collaborate with developers and business analysts in Confluence to ensure clear acceptance criteria and documentation.

Qualifications

Education Qualifications and Certifications Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
Previous Work Experience, including Leadership Experience 3–5 years of experience in Software Testing/Quality Assurance.
Technical / Domain Specific / Functional Experience and Knowledge • Proficient in Playwright for web-based automation.
• Extensive experience with Jira and X-ray for test management.
• Strong manual testing skills (exploratory, regression, UAT).
• Experience with Git, CI/CD tools, and SQL for backend testing.
GIA or G&J Industry Specific Experience and Knowledge Familiarity with laboratory, grading, or operational technology environments is preferred but not required.
Critical Experiences (including challenges that were overcome, proven skills, demonstrated outcomes, etc.) Proven track record of transitioning manual test cases into reliable automated scripts and managing quality in complex environments.
