Overview
The primary duties of this position entail:
- Qualify as a Trade Training Instructor
- Qualify and maintain all applicable non-nuclear Painter qualifications
- Onboarding New Hire Painters
- Instructing multiple Paint Trade courses in classroom and hands on settings
- Instructing multiple General Trades classroom courses
- Fall Protection, Fire Watch, Tank Watch, Respirator etc.
- Enforcing safety rules and regulations
- Supporting various lesson plan updates and related activities
- Assessing student performance and identifying noncompliance to policies, procedures and technique sheets
- Supporting special training projects as required
- Being available for overtime as needed
- Being flexible to support training on other shifts as needed
- Conduct deck plate observations
- Recommend changes to improve areas of safety, quality, cost, schedule, and continuous improvement
Skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, be able to speak in fron tof large groups of people
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
- Ability to embrace change and new ideas
- Strong organization skills
- Maintain a strong work ethic
- Be a dedicated team player
- Must have a strong history of procedural compliance and safe work practices
- Must be comfortable speaking in front of a large groups and be able to maintain control of a classroom
- Must be comfortable assigning students training tasks and enforcing policies and procedures
- Must be comfortable evaluating student progress
- Must be able to easily adapt to changing responsibilities
Qualifications
Required:
- High school diploma/GED
- Must be a first class Painter
- Must have a minimum of 3 years of Shipyard experience.
Preferred:
- Prior classroom/OTJ or ALC Instructor experience
- Certificate, Associates or advanced degree
- Experience in preparation of training materials
- Experience with classroom lectures, hands-on training and associated written and practical exams
