Job Title: CNPCC Safety Specialist

Department: Children's Neuropsychiatric Crisis Center 

Shift: Weekend

Manager: Anthony Nwokedi

Compensation: Salary / Exempt

Summary:The CNPCC Safety Specialist is responsible for the environment of care and active supervision for clients admitted to CNPCC. Assures environment is safe for treatment for CNPCC clients and monitors the activities of staff to ensure active supervision is occurring following Damar’s policies.

Responsibilities

  • Attends workshops and conferences as related to the job, and completes additional training as recommended
  • Meets regularly with CNPCC leadership to discuss trends, create action plans, and correct any deficiencies noted.
  • Shows initiative by identifying solutions to work towards improving stakeholder satisfaction.
  • Monitors services and actively promotes agency philosophy in the delivery of those services.
  • Aware of all events that affect the mental and physical wellbeing of individuals receiving services and takes appropriate action.
  • Monitors environment of care to ensure unapproved items are not present on the unit and that any facility concerns are addressed.
  • Responsible for monitoring the execution of Damar’s safety policies on CNPCC.
  • Ensures implementation of supervision protocols, including but not limited to, supervision cards, bed checks, and line of sight supervision.
  • Prioritizes duties in a manner consistent with organizational objectives and growth.
  • Acts as a good steward of Damar and/or client finances.
  • Seeks the best use of materials, equipment and staff to maximize efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Takes pride and ownership in Damar’s facilities and assigned work areas.
  • Completes incident reports, including reporting any suspected exploitation, abuse, or neglect of a client.
  • Maintains documentation that is accurate and legible.
  • Attends mandatory staff meeting and other meetings as assigned.
  • Completes and updates mandatory training and other licensure related items in a timely manner.
  • Collects data for CNPCC safety indicators and reports information monthly to Quality and Compliance.
  • Ensure services provided meet all licensing and/or certification requirements.
  • Respects the culture, diversity and rights of all clients, their families and the community.
  • Performs other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma or GED required.

 

Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience working with clients with developmental disabilities.

 

Equipment Familiarity: Proficiency with MS Office applications including: Word and Outlook.

 

Certifications, Licenses or Special Training:

  • Minimum age of 21 per licensure requirements.
  • Ability to pass and maintain Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) certification.
  • Ability to pass and maintain CPR Certification. 
  • Must meet and maintain background screening requirements for all Damar Programs as detailed in policy 1.HR.02 Pre-Employment and Employee Background Checks.
  • Valid Indiana driver’s license and driving record that meets eligibility requirements of Damar’s insurance carrier (for all positions requiring driving).
  • Successful completion of pre-employment physical required.
