Job Title: ABA Therapist

Department: ABA

Manager: Clinic Manager

Schedule: 1st Shift (8:00am-4:00pm)

Location: Fall Creek

Compensation: Hourly/ Non-Exempt

Job Summary: The ABA Therapist is responsible for performing a variety of duties related to verbal behavior, behavior modification, treatment plan implementation, data collection, and intervention in individual treatment of clients. Responsible for providing direct support to individuals diagnosed with Autism. Assists the treatment team, including the Program Manager, Program Director and Director of ABA Services and other members as designated, in the evaluation of clinical services.

  • Seeks the best use of materials, equipment and staff to maximize efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Attends mandatory staff meeting and other meetings as assigned.

Active

  • Provides direct services to children diagnosed with Autism in an ABA setting, using the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis.
  • Provide crisis intervention as necessary.
  • Interacts professionally with parents, school, medical personnel, and others using only excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Keep abreast of current treatment technology, literature, practices, and regulations.
  • Travel required; services may be provided in family/client home.  Travel may require use of personal vehicle. 
  • Operates Damar vehicles and/or personal vehicles to transport clients or perform other work-related duties.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Utilizes data collection in relation to driving and tracking outcomes and achieving agency initiatives and goals.
  • Acts as a good steward of Damar and/or client finances.
  • Shows initiative by identifying solutions to work towards improving stakeholder satisfaction.
  • Prioritizes duties in a manner consistent with organizational objectives and growth.

  • Maintains neat, chronological documentation of all goals and behaviors.
  • Attends meetings, conferences, and workshops as recommended by the ABA leadership team.
  • Completes RBT Certification as outlined by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board within 60 days of hire.
  • Maintains RBT Certification as outlined by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board.
  • Adheres to all policies and procedures as defined in the Employee Handbook, ABA Policy and Procedure Manual and Damar Operational Policies and Procedures Manual.
  • Completes and updates mandatory training and other licensure related items in a timely manner.
  • Maintains documentation that is accurate and legible.
  • Completes incident reports, including reporting any suspected exploitation, abuse, or neglect of a client.

Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required.  Bachelor’s degree preferred.  Must obtain Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) Certification as outlined by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) within 60 days of initial hire.

 

Experience: ABA therapy experience and/or experience working with children with autism is preferred but not required.

 

Equipment Familiarity: Ability to use an iPad and computer.

 

Certifications, Licenses or Special Training:

  • Minimum age of 21 depending on program and / or department requirements.
  • Must obtain Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) Certification as outlined by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) within 60 days of initial hire.
  • Must meet and maintain background screening requirements for all Damar Programs as detailed in policy 1.HR.02 Pre-Employment and Employee Background Checks.
  • Valid Indiana driver’s license and driving record that meets eligibility requirements of Damar’s insurance carrier (for all positions requiring driving).
  • Successful completion of pre-employment drug screen and physical required. 

Abilities:

  • Must be flexible and willing to work at any of the Damar ABA facilities
  • Ability to follow and execute specific verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to promote and maintain positive interaction with all internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to physically manage when necessary, including ability to assist in lifting, maneuvering, and physically supporting individuals up to 200 pounds; ability to lift up to 35 pounds.
