Students provide support to the athletic trainers as needed, to ensure efficient and adequate function of the department. As such work study students are expected to be dependable, responsible, mature and have the ability to operate with a high level of independence and understanding. Work-study students must conduct themselves in a professional, responsible manner. This includes but is not limited to, completing assignments when asked, anticipating department needs, reporting any issues to athletic trainers, providing solutions, when appropriate.

Daily Tasks are as follows:

• Practice/Game set up
• Cleaning of Athletic Training Room (ATR)
• Equipment, treatment tables etc.
• Organization
• Stocking of supplies
• Other duties as assigned
• Adhering to the rules of the ATR
• Learning Aspect

The Department of Sports Medicine students have a unique opportunity to see another side of Intercollegiate Athletics. As such they are provided with a unique learning opportunity. Working in the athletic training room can be a great experience for individuals who are interested in pursuing a career in athletic training, physical therapy, or other pursuits related to health and wellness, as well as a career in health administration. Students are encouraged to ask questions and seek out learning opportunities.

Salary and Hours

• Students are paid the current minimum wage for Maryland.

• Students will work a total of eight (8) hours per week.
