Overview

The Nuclear Submarine Shipbuilding Review (NSSR) team, led by retired Vice Admiral Kevin McCoy, Naval Reactors and PMS397, have brought a team from the consultant firm AT Kearney to EB to conduct various assessments and to help us increase our velocity in building submarines for the US Navy.

One aspect of the NSSR / AT Kearney effort has been construction of an enterprise-wide War Room to collect and capture all of the company’s initiatives and progress towards our objective to deliver one COLUMBIA and two VIRGINIA (aka 1+2) submarines annually.

Now that this enterprise-wide War Room has been constructed and set-up (it’s around 80-90% complete in content), we would like to transition ownership of the room to EB control, hence the desire for two employees who have experience in both Operations and Engineering. This role will provide plenty of exposure to candidates in how EB operates as a system as well as face-time with the majority of our senior leaders.

The purpose of this rotation is for two employees who have completed shipyard rotations to develop enterprise-wide exposure to the company’s long-term strategy and short-term execution of our pursuit of delivering one COLUMBIA and two VIRGINIA class submarines annually.

Presently, EB has 18 COLUMBIA Build 1 and VIRGINIA Block IV-V submarines under construction and later this fall, EB expects to receive orders for 14 more submarines, through the COLUMBIA Build 2 and VIRGINIA Block VI contracts.

The company has established an enterprise-wide War Room in Building 88 which captures both our strategy, through all functional areas – Advanced Planning, Engineering, Procurement, Human Resources (hiring and training), Facility Master Planning, Programs and Operations, and performance metrics depicting progress towards our 1+2 vision.

This role will provide exposure to both our many business systems and processes and company senior leadership – both the VP Staff as well as the various directors responsible for each business area.

The rotation employees will participate in many of these discussions as well as develop and maintain this War Room.

THIS ROLE IS A ROTATION, THERE WILL BE NO CHANGE TO JOB TITLE, COMPENSATION OR DEPARTMENT.
