Overview

Advance Planners play a key role in ensuring the timely and successful delivery of each Columbia Class submarine—the most advanced ballistic missile submarine ever built. As part of the Final Assembly and Test (FAT) organization, you will help drive execution by developing and maintaining the Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) and ensuring that all production activities stay aligned with program goals. This is a critical, hands-on role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys connecting the dots between planning, operations, and execution.

 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and analyze the Columbia Class FAT Artemis networks accurately reflecting project scope, dependencies, milestones, and deliverables.
  • Maintain and communicate the Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) to ensure visibility of all major activities and alignment across organizations.
  • Identify and analyze critical and controlling paths, providing risk assessments and recommending recovery or mitigation actions to leadership.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams in Planning, Operations, Test, Ship’s Management, and Design to track construction progress and resolve schedule variances.
  • Provide clear, data-driven communication to stakeholders, ensuring early identification of risks and schedule impacts.
  • Support continuous improvement in schedule management processes and tools.

This is an on-site position located in the South Yard Assembly Building.

Key Skills

  • Public speaking and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate technical schedule data to all levels of leadership
  • Excellent critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving abilities
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (including MS Project)
  • General knowledge of submarine systems, their purposes, and operations
  • Ability to read and interpret shipyard drawings, Engineering Reports, and Change Reports
  • Must be able to maneuver and climb aboard modules in construction environments

Qualifications

Required:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 3+ years of Electric Boat experience in Planning, Ship’s Management, Test, Operations, or Design
  • U.S. Submarine Service experience will be considered in lieu of Electric Boat experience

Preferred:

  • 5+ years of Electric Boat experience in Planning, Ship’s Management, Test, Operations, or Design. U.S. Submarine Service experience will be considered in lieu of Electric Boat experience
  • Familiarity with Columbia/Virginia Class IMS and the Earned Value Management System (EVMS)
  • Experience using ARTEMIS and Teamcenter for schedule and network management
  • Understanding of Critical/Controlling Path analysis and reporting
  • 2+ years navigating the Electronic Desktop (work order progressing, Unsat adjudication, and closeout)
  • Deckplate experience supporting Operations, Test, Ship Management, or Production Planning
  • Familiarity with Nuclear Production and Testing sequencing, and Non-Nuclear test sequencing
  • Working knowledge of System and Space OPCON processes
