Overview

Production Control drives construction through work paper and material and works hand in hand with Operations to complete submarine construction. This position is in support of The Groton Machine Ship. The successful candidate will be required to perform Production Control functions, which include, but are not limited to, Work Order management, software and hardware expediting in support of Work Order schedules, change processing, and work completion closeout, across all programs in support of Machine Shop Operations. In order to perform these functions, the successful candidate will be required to interface with Operations, Engineering, Design, Material Systems, Configuration Management, Quality and other support organizations at various levels of management. Successful candidate will be expected to be aware of and in compliance with those attributes of Safety, Quality, Cost, Schedule and Process Improvement as they apply to their position.

  • Good verbal and written communication skills along with good interpersonal skills 
  • Good blueprint readings skills

Qualifications

Required:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent 
  • 2 years of experience in Trade, Shipyard, Military or Planning/Production Control role
  • Proficiency in reading blueprints

Preferred:

  • College degree highly desirable

  • Working knowledge of EWP/PCM, ARTEMIS, MRPII, SPARS, ATIS, Jcals, ERS, TeamCenter, Microsoft Office, and Operations Work List (OWL)

  • Technical schooling or job experience in one of the following disciplines: Machining, Machine Shop Operations, Structural, or Pipe

  • Shipboard construction experience desired

  • Previous Planning experience desired

     

  • Scheduling experience desired
