Overview
This position reports to the Chief of Trades Academy as supervision for second shift and will be responsible for the development, delivery, and administration of non-nuclear training. The successful candidate must provide technical assistance and overall direction to a team of hourly and salaried instructors while creating a positive environment with employees and peers. The Trades Academy Supervisor is responsible for the implementation of Operations Trade Training Programs for EB and Navy personnel in the Trades Academy. Specific assignments include:
- Supervises the activities of up to 8 instructors regarding their classroom instruction and practical exam facilitation.
- Perform classroom and practical exam monitoring evaluations.
- Interface with proficiency developers, engineering, operations management, and audit and assessment personnel to ensure procedural compliance and overall quality.
- Lead their team to achieve the company’s goals regarding safety, quality, cost, schedule, and continuous improvements.
- Oversee the maintenance of lesson plans of various trade skills and subject matter.
- Ensures the readiness of classrooms and training facilities on 2nd.
- Coordinates all Training Programs to include New Hire Training, Refresher and just-in-time training.
- Monitors training sessions to identify areas for improvement.
- Coordinates maintenance and upgrades to Trades Academy facilities.
- Coordinates with Operations to determine needs and deliver training.
- Administrative coordinator for trades academy records including instructor and student timekeeping and administration.
- Directs instructors in the preparation and conduct of courses.
- Procures materials needed to conduct hands on training and maintain mock-ups.
- Oversees shift instructor development and utilization.
- Supports the implementation of new technology in training delivery.
- Oversees the maintenance of historical training records.
Skills
- Competent in MS Office suite (Word, Power Point, Excel) to include maintaining document and data files are required.
- Ability to communicate to all levels of Tradespeople, Supervision, and Management.
- Data analysis and technical writing to generate reports and assessments.
- A basic knowledge of the non-nuclear training that Trades Academy offers

Qualifications
Required:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 4+ years of experience in training development, delivery, or administration (submittal of rosters, validation verification of training)
- 3+ years experience at Electric Boat
- Experience with the Cornerstone Learning Management System.
Preferred:
- AS/BS degree
- Previous experience in non-nuclear trades production work.
- Previous leadership experience required.
- Previous experience in curriculum development/delivery
